I chose the poem Names by Brian Moses. This poem serves as a warning to the audience about the impending doom of the world if we don't act. It targets the everyday man and the complacency of not doing 'your part' in keeping the world green.
To create this motion graphic, I created a new language that runs alongside the English words as the poem is being presented on screen. Having the new language adds to the futurism of the video, showing that this is a warning from the future.
This is the alien Language I created
I have created this language to be readable.
The layout of the language was inspired by the film Arrival (2016) where the alien language was read in a circle and therefore I have done a similar idea.
Each English letter corresponds with a symbol (showed in the full alphabet above). Each letter/symbol connects to each other in a circular layout.
To read a word, you start at the bottom of the work and read anti-clockwise. (diagram to the left)
To read a sentence (or verse in this case) is the same, as the fully formed piece of work is also in a circle.
You start with the individual word, at the bottom, and you move to the next one, moving in an anti-clockwise motion.
The idea was that this motion graphic would be projected on the side of buildings in the middle of towns and city centres to try and reach as many people as possible to warn them about the impending doom of climate change.
